VISTA Title: STEM VISTA Western MD 4-H

Assignment Description: Out-of-School-Time STEM VISTA with the Western Maryland 4-H Youth Development Program will work to increase high quality STEM learning opportunities that occur during the afterschool and summer hours for youth in the community that have the least access to STEM programming.

What attracted you to MOST/VISTA: I was attracted to 4-H in Washington County and Western Maryland because of the outreach and school enrichment programs that it provides to underserved communities throughout the area. As a person who grew up loving science AND lived in Western Maryland I know first-hand what it is like to not have many opportunities to develop this interest outside of school and 4-H works to combat that issue. I joined MOST/VISTA in order to join 4-H and help them with their goal of growing a science ready workforce.

Fun Fact: Taught elementary students at bilingual schools in Honduras, Central America from 2012-2014.
